What is The Better World Instagram Proxe?

The Better World Instagram Proxe allows you to engage your friends, acquaintances, and social media followers in a dynamic discussion about Jesus and racial justice.

Here’s how it works:

  • You can share the beautiful and compelling artwork of Shin Maeg, who specifically created pieces to connect Jesus’ life with the experiences of injustice we face today. The artwork imagines a transformed world of justice and equality for all.
  • Through Instagram polls, comments, and other features you can invite your followers to honestly engage with you on this topic.
  • You then have the opportunity to follow up via direct message (DM) with those who respond and invite them to join you for the Jesus and Justice Discussion series or other community events.

What is an Instaproxe?

The best way to reach skeptics and seekers online is through intriguing and vulnerable posts to help awaken curiosity and start spiritual conversations, followed up with a clear invitation. We call this approach to outreach Instagram Proxe Stations (or “Insta-Proxes”)*.

Brandi’s Story

Here’s how a real student, Brandi, took her elements of her testimony** and created an Insta-Proxe.

instagram proxe example

500 of Brandi’s friends looked at this story. 50 people voted on the first panel, most kept reading, and at the end, 23 friends voted on her invitation. Brandi DM’ed her friends and invited them to the first InterVarsity meeting of the year. 12 of her friends said yes!

It took Brandi 30 minutes to create this winsome testimony. 500 were touched by it. 50 were engaged by it. And 12 decided to act on it...that is an incredible impact!

*Proxe is the InterVarsity word for any outreach that uses interactive art and honest conversation topics.

**Some Christians think testimony is your story of salvation. We believe testimony is any story of an encounter with God.
